The National Energy Administration reported that nearly 100 billion yuan of new investment projects for rural power grid upgrading this year involved 25 provinces, autonomous regions and cities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, a total of 2139 projects, with an investment of about 92.62 billion yuan. This time, 415 110 (66) kV substations, more than 8500 km of lines, 978 35 kV substations, more than 9300 km of lines, 130000 km of 10 kV lines, 144000 distribution transformers, 324000 km of low-voltage lines and 6.273 million households of household meters were newly built and renovated.

In the face of rural power grid and county main network, the network structure is still relatively weak, the problem of single power supply and single main transformer is prominent, the interconnection and inter connection capability is poor, and the problems such as insufficient capacity of main transformer and aging equipment are widespread. The National New Urbanization Plan (2014-2020) issued by the State Council marks the beginning of China's new urbanization construction.

In 2015, the State Grid Corporation of China planned to allocate 90 billion yuan of infrastructure investment for the construction and transformation of 110 kV and below power grids in the county, and also to allocate a part of funds for overhaul and technical transformation for the construction and transformation of rural distribution networks. Through the construction and transformation of power grids, the problem of weak connection between 21 county power grids and the main grid was solved, and the power supply capacity of rural distribution networks was further improved.

According to the work deployment, Southern Power Grid Corporation plans to invest 12.42 billion yuan in rural power grid transformation in 2015. It will build and transform 108 substations of 110 kV and below, 13000 kilometers of lines and 46000 kilometers of low-voltage lines in 337 counties and cities; 10249 new transformers were added, 6511000 household meters were renovated, basically solving the problems of long power supply radius of medium and low voltage lines in rural areas and urban fringe areas, heavy load and overload of lines and distribution transformers in the substation area.

The National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration require the State Grid Corporation of China, China Southern Power Grid Corporation and local power grid enterprises to start the construction of the new investment project in July and complete the project construction task on time.

The transformation of rural power network is a huge project, covering many areas all over the country, with large quantities of projects and large investment, which plays an obvious role in driving economic growth. As far as the current situation is concerned, the cables used in rural power grid are mainly aluminum stranded wire with small section of 95mm2 and below, aluminum stranded wire with steel core of 0.6/1kV and below, aluminum core PVC insulated power cables. The rural power grid market has a large demand for these wire and cable products, which will further enhance the scene of the cable market.
